Flat-bottomed dories are a great boat for fishing or boat camping. The roomy design allows lots of options for seating, lockers, etc. to best suit your use.

The speed boat is based on classic wood boat designs. Plans are available for a variety of yesteryear’s beauties. Modern materials make for much lighter boats requiring less HP and much less maintenance than the original classics.

Cedar strip canoes have become the new standard for hand-built canoes. “Strippers” may be the best combination of looks and function that there is in a small boat.

Kayaks can be made with cedar strips, marine plywood, or a combination of both with a plywood hull and stripper deck as shown here. All of these methods make light and responsive boats.

A wooden paddleboard? Why not! Our wood construction paddleboards are stable, fast, and lightweight.

Whether dingy, dory, skiff, or duck “sneak” boat, there are many simple and inexpensive designs available for small rowboats, some that can be sailed or accommodate a small motor. These little 8-footers are great play boats for the kids at the lake, or for your own rowing workout.

Try them out.

Choosing a boat without trying it is tough. If you can get to our shop in Hudson, WI, or our lake cabin near Itasca State Park in Minnesota, we can arrange for you to try out many of the boats shown. This will help you make personal choices for your boat on trim, seating, and other final touches.
